About Tatter & Tape
Tatter & Tape is a working notebook about junk journaling, collage scrapbooking and the supplies that hold them together. It is written at one desk, with a kitchen scale, a micrometer and a humidity meter within reach.

What this site is
Every entry on this site is a record of something that was actually made or actually measured. The spreads are pages from a physical journal: what went down first, how thick the stack ended up, which adhesive failed and when. The supply notes are bench tests — the same paper cut into identical samples, the same load, the same humidity, the numbers written down. Where a result depends on a condition, the condition is stated in the entry rather than in a footnote.
What this site is not
It is not a shop, and nothing here is sponsored. No supply note has been paid for, no product has been sent for review, and no link on the site earns a commission. Where a cheap tool performed worse than an expensive one, the entry says so; where a cheap tool won, the entry says that too. The test method is described in each note so you can repeat it on your own bench and get your own answer.
How the archive is published
Entries are released on a schedule rather than all at once, so the desk fills up the way a real notebook does. Each entry carries the date it was written and the conditions it was tested under. Older entries are not quietly rewritten: if a number changes because a batch of paper changed, the new measurement goes into a new entry with a new date.
Who writes it
One person, in the evenings, with about ten years of accumulated scraps and a strong preference for adhesives that can be undone. If you want to argue with a number, disagree with a method, or suggest a paper worth testing, write to the address on the contact page — corrections are welcome and get folded into the next entry on the subject.
