What is collected
Tatter & Tape is a static site. It does not have user accounts, comment forms, newsletters or a shopping cart, and it does not ask you for any personal information in order to read it. The server that hosts the site keeps standard access logs, which typically include the requested URL, the date and time of the request, the referring page, and an IP address. Those logs are used to keep the site running and to spot abuse, and are not used to build a profile of any individual reader.
Google AdSense and DoubleClick
This site is supported by advertising and intends to serve ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com, and you can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. The lawful basis for the access logs described above is legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure; the lawful basis for advertising cookies is consent, which you may withdraw at any time. Your rights under the CCPA
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what categories of personal information are collected and for what purpose, the right to request deletion of personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. This site does not sell personal information. To make a request, write to [email protected] with the subject line CCPA Request; requests are answered within 45 days.
Cookies and local storage
The site itself sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser except, where a script is used for the layer drawer on entry pages, no persistent state at all — the drawer resets on every visit. Advertising and analytics cookies, when they are active, come from third parties, and their use is described above and governed by their own policies. Blocking cookies in your browser settings will not prevent you from reading anything on this site.
Analytics
If aggregate traffic measurement is active it is used only to answer questions like which entries are read and which pages are never opened. Measurement data is not combined with any other information to identify a person, and no attempt is made to link a visit to a real-world identity.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, write to [email protected] and it will be removed.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the Last updated date at the top of the page changes with it, and material changes are described in the entry feed so that a reader who subscribed to the record can see what moved and when.
